Okay, so I lied. I'm not quite in NYC yet. I figured, since I'm in a car for 14 hours, why not blog? More fitting, why not blog about what to do during a road trip?


To avoid awkward moments like this, here are some entertaining things you can do while you're a car.

WARNING: Do not attempt to do any of these things while driving. I take no responsibility in whatever you choose to do, but please drive safely!

You know this was you at some point.

What to Do For Entertainment During a Road Trip 

Involving Wifi

Nothing is impossible nowadays. We have the available technology to have wifi, wherever you are! Just bring a wifi hotspot with you, and you're set to have internet the entire trip, giving you the options to do things such as this.

1. Blog
2. Facebook- most of you probably have the app downloaded and if you have 3G, you don't need wifi to use it!
3. Netflix- Catch up on some of your favorite series or just watch an absurd amount of movies. No one is judging. 
4. Twitter- Please don't tweet every mile you pass. You can always tweet the states you pass! Is that a thing? 
5. Pinterest- You spend hours on it already, works wonders to pass the time. 

No wifi?

If you don't own a wifi hotspot, you can still be entertained! I'm not going to lie, you should probably invest in a hotspot, but until then, you can try some of these. They're all pretty elementary, but still entertaining.

1. The Alphabet Game- As you see signs, you have to find something that starts with each letter of the alphabet, but you have to go in order. Say you see an Arbys, that counts for A. Five minutes later, you see a Bojangles, etc. However, if you see a Dairy Queen before you see a Cookout, (or  any variation of these letters), it doesn't count. 
2. Cards- bring a deck of cards with you. Play Texas Hold Em', Go Fish, Solitare, etc. The possibilities are endless. *Note there are apps for all of these. Probably easier than having the cards get messy. 
3. Watch some DVDs- If you bring your laptop (and a charger with a converter to plug into the cigarette outlet), you can watch all of the DVDs you want. Me, I would obsess over The O.C., considering I own all four seasons. IT WILL NEVER GET OLD. 
4. Listen to some Music- You can bring your iPod, a CD players, etc.
5. Draw- For those of you artsy people, if the moving car doesn't hinder you, draw something! If I were only that talented. Sad life.
6. Write Some Music- For all of my fellow musicians, write some music! Though, sitting in a car isn't much inspiration, but draw some inspiration from your surroundings. 
7. Create an Itinerary- This is the perfect opportunity to plan out your trip if you haven't already done so! 
8. Homework- If you brought it, (Nerds), do it!
9. Handheld Games- If you have a phone, E-reader, laptop, it has games, gadgets, and gismos. Use them! If you own a handheld system, even better! Just don't forget the charger!
10. Read a Book- If cars don't make you sick, read! E-Reader or a hardcopy: whatever works best for you!

If you are the Driver:

Yeah, if you got stuck driving, you don't really get many options.

1. You do get to control the car! So people in the back begging for bathroom/ food breaks have to get approval from you. Sweet Revenge.
2. Stop for Coffee and Snacks- Stay awake and full! 
3. Switch with People- If you have reasonable friends (with drivers licenses) switch it up! 
4. You get to control the radio. Enough said. 
5. If there is an album you thoroughly enjoy, listen to the entire thing. Most albums are at least 45 minutes long. Just keep listening to different albums, and the trip will be over before you know it!

Road trips are awesome. Seriously. Especially those with your friends! Hopefully after this, you'll be more prepared to tackle the longer exhausting trips. Moral of the story: buy a wifi hotspot. 

THE UNC - d00k RIVALRY

The greatest rivalry in the history of sports. 

And tonight is the night. 

I bleed Carolina Blue. I've never felt an utter hatred more passionate and ardent then this. Twice a year, UNC and Duke students rally for the game of a lifetime. You can feel animosity burning in our souls, and pride for our team flushing our veins. We are Carolina, and this is Carolina Basketball.

For those of you who do not enjoy sports, I do not even know how to express to you the aversion each student feels when evening catching a glimpse of the other shade of blue. However, I can tell you that there is nothing that brings you closer together as a university, as students, as an entire body of people than a common enemy. Upon a Carolina Victory, it doesn't matter who is a stranger and who is your best friend. You'll be arm and arm with your neighbor regardless. 

We have been rivals since the history of time. Upon being admitted to the university, you might as well take an oath that swears you to hate duke for an eternity. Just take a look at this.

Social media is blowing up with #GTHD, memes, and videos. It's just absolutely fantastic. We're making a statement. 

As a team, we've had a rough year. We lost some valuable players to the NBA, but we gained some talent. We're growing more and more with each game, and we're playing like a team. 

This time, on our turf, it's going down. 

You may think we're taking this too seriously, but we don't care. I literally almost unfriended someone today for posting d00k memes, and I didn't think twice about it. Too far? Hell no.

These games are a part of our soul: a part of our experience, and a part of our life. Last year, when the dreadful occurred at the final buzzer, I failed an exam the next day. I just couldn't study. Too far? HELL NO. Oh, but we got our revenge on their senior night. (I also aced that final.)

We, as students, are bonded not only by the campus and the community, but by this rivalry.  Win or Lose, we're all still proud to be Tar Heels. 

Game is at 9pm. Watch it. Love it. Most importantly, #GTHD.

SPRING BREAK PACKING

IT'S SPRING BREAK, YA'LL.  Whether you are going someplace hot as the sun or cold as ice, here is a list of essentials for your trip.

The Ultimate Spring Break Packing List

Technology

1. Cell Phone and Charger- it would be a complete and utter disaster if you forgot this!
2. E-Reader- If you're going to the beach, what's better than catching up on your favorite books or scoping out some mags while soaking up sun. Don't forget the charger!
3. Laptop and Charger- For those of us who need to be productive over spring break (aka surf the internet). 
4. Camera and Charger- Photographic memories are the best! Don't forget to upload them on Facebook so all of your friends can be jealous of your adventures!
5. iPod/ MP3 and Charger- don't forget headphones!

Beauty

1. Shampoo and Conditioner- Self explanatory. 
2. Face/Body Wash
3. Lotion- Sunscreen included! Don't burn your beautiful faces!
4. Toothbrush and Paste- Again, self explanatory.
5. Make up Remover- You don't want to wake up looking like a clown, ladies.
6. Shaving Cream/Razor- If you're going some place warmer, you'll be showing off your freshly shaven legs!
7. Brushes of sorts- Hair brushes, make up brushes,etc. 
8. Make up- Girl....
9. Deodorant
10. Hair Care- including (but not limited to) blow-dryers, straighteners, curling irons, heat resistant sprays, gel, mousse, etc. 
11. Fragrances- Perfumes, glitter sprays, whatever you use to make yourself smell nice!

Fashion

All right ladies, this section depends thoroughly on where you're going...obviously. 
  

OWWW OWWW HOT:

1. Bathing Suit- bring multiple. If you're going to the beach, not only will your bathing suits be wet from each day, you do not want to be seen in the same one everything single day. Just imagine if you meet the guy of your dreams on the beach! Give him some variety!
2. Cover up- This includes anything you want to wear over your suit while you are walking down to the beach, especially useful for whenever you plan on going to a restaurant after a quick dip. 
3. Sandals of all sorts- The beach is the perfect place to (a) wear as many sandals as you would like AND WEDGES without the treachery of falling on your face on a brick-filled campus (b) more importantly, buy more sandals. Most beaches have some sort of outlet mall with mega sales. 
4.  Shauty Shorts: Perfect opportunity to rock some colorful chinos, or even debut some funky patterns. 
5. Tanks- Easily one of the most versatile clothing items. You can wear a plain tank with a colorful cardigan, a psychedelic tank with white shorts, or even a bright tank and a pair of skinny jeans.
6. Sundresses- It'll be sunny.
7. Sun Hat- It'll help keep your face from burning, and they're quite chic.
8. Jeans- Yes, it'll be hot, but you'll be thankful you brought some for those windy night strolls. 
9. Jacket- Bring at least one. You never know what'll happen, and that way you're prepared for anything!
10. Sunglasses- It'll be bright! Protect your eyes!

BURRRRR COLD (did not work as well....)

1. Jackets- bring multiple. You want to look your best. Bring a various amount of sizes, i.e. bring a couple of thick coats, as well as some thinner jackets.
2. Sweaters- I just went on a spree and bought SO MANY. You can never have too many sweaters, they'll come in handy! Great for layering. 
3. Vests- Another one of the most versatile pieces of clothing. You can wear them with almost any long sleeve shirt or sweater, and even wear a jacket over them. They'll keep you warm, and you'll look fantastic.
4. Jeans- Obvs.
5. Boots- The great thing about going some place cold for spring break is the fact that you can extend boot season! Often times after spring break, as the weather warms up, boot season is cut short. Wear them with some boot socks to accentuate the look! Also, bring multiple pairs. At LEAST one black and one brown. Leather boots are always nice, and they never go out of style.
6. Scarves- Probably my favorite accessory item ever. Bring multiple. They're as equally warm as they are adorable. 
7. Gloves and Hats- It'll be cold. 
8. Sunglasses- Just because you're going some place cold does not mean that it won't be sunny. They also help keep wind out of your eyes!
9. Tights- You can wear skirts even when it's cold. Black tights are essential a woman's wardrobe. You can wear them with almost anything, even under shorts!
10. Cardigans and Cami(s)- For the ultimate layering technique. 

Miscellaneous 

1. Umbrella- You never know when it's going to rain.
2. Painkillers/ Medication- Not allowed on some flights, but very useful if you begin to feel yourself getting sick! If you are on a prescribed medication, don't forget to take it!
3. Purses- Something small that will hold your essentials. There is no need for anything larger than that. 
4. Money $$$$- Obvs, but don't bring too much. Bring both cash and your card. Leave the checkbook at home.
5. Your I.D.- Drivers License, passport, Student I.D., whatever it is that you use to legally identify yourself!
6. Hand Sanitizer- it's a gross world. 

What to Leave at Home:

1. Expensive Jewelry- Ladies, I understand that it's tempting to bring every accessory you own, but only bring a few inexpensive ones. You don't want to lose them while you're on vacation!
2. Important Documents- Anything work-related, social security card, credit card statements, etc. Leave these at home.
3. Car Keys- Unless you drove, leave them at home. They're expensive to replace, and you don't want to get home and realize that you left your keys!
4. Homework- have some fun, will you? You probably won't be productive anyways. 
5. Your most valued clothing items- don't risk the chance of losing them. Don't bring those coach purses, prada shoes, and designer sunglasses. Chances are you'll lose them.

RAINY DAY CHIC

Fact: We all hate rain. Okay, let’s clarify. We all hate how rain destroys any hope of looking halfway decent. 

Let’s face it. We all have this idea that we look like this.

Yeah, sorry no.

Well, I’m telling you (out of love) that we look more like this.

That's more like it.

Especially for those of us on a college campus who basically spend every waking moment outside, walking to our classes. It ruins our hair, severely limits our shoe choices, and gets us all wet (and not the good kind). Well screw the rain. This post features some ways to still look AH-mazing after spending a day in the rain.

How to Look Mega Awesome in the Rain: 

Step 1: Shoes (OMG) Shoes

Find a good pair of rainboots. No, I’m not talking about the tacky ones that come in every variation of neon known to man. I mean a pair of a neutral colored boots that don’t blind the person walking next to you. This is not including white. Unless you plan on looking like an anime character or a gogo dancer, I suggest you avoid white boots. These are Michael Kors Boots priced anywhere from $200 up. (which is slightly out of MY price range but for those of us who aren’t poor college students...).

If only.

While wearing these, your feet won’t get wet, and if worn with a pair of black skinny jeans, you’ll look slimming. If you’re looking for something more affordable, you can even wear something like this. Hunter Dark Brown Rubber Knee-High Rain Boots priced at $40 or higher.

Not too shabby!

Step 2: Hair

Finding the perfect hair product and a cute updo can solve any rainy day hair situation. Those of you who spend hours in front of the mirror on a raining day, STOP NOW. Within your first five minutes outside, your hair will grow a mind of its own. Finding the hair product that works the best for you is a vital process in frizz prevention. Personally, I use Garnier Frutis Sleek and Shine Anti Frizz Serum. Be wary because any more than a dimes worth will make your hair oily and greasy for the entire day.

Now, in terms of hairstyles, a rainy day is a perfect opportunity to test run that bun you’ve been meaning to try out. Frizzy buns on top of your head can be a stylish alternate. If buns aren’t your style, you can even try a braid and a cute hat to top the look.

Step 3. Accessorize Accessorize Accessorize

No rainy day is complete without a trendy umbrella. Not only do they keep you dry, but it’s an excellent opportunity to add a pop of color to your look. Nicky Hilton rocks the red umbrella, giving her outfit “pizazz.” (bottom left) This same effect can be created with a colorful bag. Rainy days are naturally days to wear more toned down and plain colors. Add a multicolored bag and a matching umbrella to show off that rainy day style.

After following these steps, you can say goodbye to the soaked, frizzy, and unattractive and say hello to rain chic.

My name is Natalia Perez, and this is my blog Pieces 2 Puzzle (P2P).

I chose this name in particular because my mind tends to be a convoluted mess of puzzle pieces, metaphorically speaking of course (we all have brains). This blog will be a place for me to share my most random thoughts with my lovely viewers/readers. That’s right, a Tarheel born and a Tarheel bred. Naturally, I hate all things related to Duke. My family and I originally lived in New York/ New Jersey (we lived in both), and we moved to Greensboro, NC. 

As much as I adore the city, I’ve come to really enjoy the suburbs. I’m majoring in Music and Chemistry, which, yes, I’m aware is an interesting combination. 

As for what I want to do with my life, I have no clue. I spent my entire life thinking I knew exactly what I wanted, but once I got to college, I questioned all of it. As important as the future is, right now, in this very moment, NOW is where I want my focus to lie: living the college experience, and more important living life.
